I am a Doctoral Researcher at the Department of Sociology (LSE). I hold a MSc in Social Policy (Research) from the LSE and a MA in Social Policy from the University of Warsaw. My doctoral research relates to attitudes of lay people in Poland to different crimes and sanctions insofar as these attitudes can shed light on the viability of restorative approaches to justice. Prior to beginning my Ph.D. I was working as a Research Assistant at Kingston University & St George’s University of London and Anglia Ruskin University. Alongside my doctoral studies I have worked as a qualified court and police interpreter in the UK. Apart from my research passion for restorative justice I am equally interested in the sociology of punishment, criminal justice policies in Central and Eastern European countries, domestic violence, motherhood in prison, penal labour and the sociological aspects of court interpreting. I tweet @MatczakAnia and my academic profile is available at https://lse.academia.edu/AnnaMatczak.
